I am a university student who loves chocolate! Coffee is my best buddy when it comes to taking on my finals. I have a tendency to want to try and do so many different things at once and as a result, I've found my hobbies to be as such!
Nerfing is one of them, but aside from that, I also love arts and craft. I have my own startup, Thumbforlego at: where I sell my works! 
I love to do all sorts of crafting, so you will see me uploading posts of my leathercrafts, thumbdrives, replica guns, nerf gun modifications and gundam models! I'm fortunate enough to be blessed by really supportive parents and given the chance to explore many, many parts of the world and try out a plethora of activities. This is also how I discovered my love for film photography, videography and piano.

I've also gotten the chance to experience many of nature's wonders 
And my most freezing experience to date: riding a husky ski sled into the sunset (It was -38 to -40 degrees celsius and the huskies were pretty fast.)

Why 36000feetabove? This is the altitude that commercial planes cruise at and I have always loved the view up in the sky, being amongst the sea of clouds. :) Personally, my favourite favourite food has got to be airplane buns! Does anyone else feel the same way?! With a slice of butter and looking out of the window, I have yet to find an experience that can beat that.

Spraying my GoPro skeleton housing came as quite a sudden thing, at least half of it. I bought the hero 3 skeleton housing upon reading up that it is compatible with a Hero 4. Currently GoPro sells a blackout housing (yay!) and a skeleton housing (yay!)
but they do not have a blackout skeleton housing, so i just spray painted one. I decided to give it a bit of a camo feel to it due to my helmet cover being mostly green in colour. This post is on how i sprayed that casing, although i think i might get another casing if i want another pattern. On to the how to segment!
Step 1: Masking
As always, mask away the areas that you do NOT want to be painted. Using painter's tape is very much recommended. Places you will want to mask are the lens cover, display cover, unless you don't need the display, and all of the holes on the skeleton housing. This is to keep the internals of the housing clean, free from paint. buttons are optional. Also, make sure that as you cover the holes, the tape does not have any gaps and it does not overlap the inner sides if not you are left with a very inconsistent paintwork. For the lens cover, i pasted the painter's tape over and used my knife to rim around the edges to get that rounded edge. For my preference, I very much prefer to have the display there, but the led lights covered. Hence the partial masking of the front display screen.
 
Step 2: Spray Painting
The golden rule of time is always, ALWAYS go for many light coats over one think layer of paint. Thin coats will make the surface look less "thick" than doing a one layer coat at one shot and so far, from what i've experienced, many layers adhere better to the surface and the paints dont chip off as easily. As in, in the event that you drop it, not so much of the original surface shows through when the paint chips off. Although over time, wear and tear, it will eventually be worn off at the edges.
This step has many layers and steps to follow, depending on how you want the outcome to be like. If its a simple green, just a few thin coats of olive green and you are good to go! Instead, for mine, i used these paints in this order.
First coat is a simple spray over all the areas to cover the whole thing with a base layer of dark green. Spray it all over making sure you cover the edges especially. Spray the back too so that it is consistent all around!
Second is black marbling. I did this by first testing it out at the side of the newspapers and practiced spraying it before doing it on the actual product as sometimes the black lines can appear too close to each other, losing that effect. It also depends a lot on how you move your hand.
 Once you are more confident, then go ahead with doing it on your item! in this case, the housing. you will want to use your finger to lightly tap on the streaks of paint if they are spiderwebbed stuck to your item so that it sticks to the surface instead of just hanging in mid-air.  
Third was olive green which is a lighter shade of green as i wanted to create some “depth” in the cover. I sprayed from far so that the little specks of light green can settle on the surface, instead of spraying it directly and having a thick obvious coat of light green. This gave some form of depth, although it was later dulled as i sprayed matte black from far, letting the specks of matt black though it also.
Step 3: Clear Coating
This step is about protecting the paint by spraying a layer of clear coat over to protect it. It’s also the spraying of this coat to matte the surface. I could have used a glossy finishing also, depending on preference.
I could have done better if i used proper stencils and swapped the spraying sequence a base coat of light green, gone it over with camo of dark green, then black marbling and clear coat to top it off.
Step 4: Removing the painters tape:
This step just involves removing all the parts that you have painted. Do a test fit of everything to make sure it all works just fine. Be careful to not scratch off the paint! Make sure the lens cover os absolutely clean as your GoPro will be recording from there.

Recently i bought the gopro skeleton housing! for better audio recording. I am not keen on investing in a mic though and can you imagine playing nerf battles in thick vegetation and having the mic getting caught or having random dirt stuck on it? huh no way i am going to buy one. So I read online that the Hero 4 and Hero 3 are identical, that you can swap around the housings. I have yet to test fit them but upon reading so, i decided to buy the hero 3 skeleton housing. Because i dont seem to find one for the Hero 4. $80usd for this as i bought the original. It's supposed to protect your camera so definitely going to go original. The rest of the attachments, go china.
I felt bored on friday, so i thought to myself why not get it spray painted to blend it in with my helmet. Currently my helmet has a kryptek mandrake cover and i had the intention to make a skeleton blackout housing. For some reason, idk Gopro doesnt make blackout skeleton housings. So i had to make one. but since my helmet has this camo pattern on it, why not do the same for my skeleton housing! at least let it blend in a little. Although, i must say i didnt have the patience of waiting for a kryptek stencil, so i thought why not do something different! And this is my answer to that. There is supposed to be 2 different greens on this but it doesnt look like it worked out HAHA.
 
I am quite satisfied with the outcome! although i feel that it could have been done better heh. It doesnt feel like there is enough "depth" to the spray painting, a lack of different shades of green. I tried spraying green from far on top of the dark green coat and it did help at first, looked pretty good. But as i sprayed little specks of black onto the cover to dim it down, with a clear protection over, it seems like the lighter green just blended in and disappeared. heh. I should have thought this over better and planned which colours to go on first, but i am pretty pleased with it so far! will i buy another housing to do? hmmm 50-50 i have no idea. i could spray my current waterproof housing, but i am looking at buying a Mobius camera to put at the front of my blaster to get a different angle. Currently exploring that as it is really small and light, as compared to a gopro!
  I guess i'll be adopting a new format of posting another "how to do" page or whatsoever for the certain whatever spray paintings and craftings that i do. I thought it'll be more structured that way instead of just continuing to post all the way. to have a section dedicated to "how to" posts. At least thats what i have in my head, chances are 50% it wouldnt happen and 50% it'll happen in the next month. Sunday, March 06, 2016
HI! sorry for the late post guys, this week has been just overwhelming. I had 6 assignments due this week and it has been a super rushed one. I am so so so drained out. Well i am typing this on a saturday actually, but i think i will just post it on a sunday. I also had a speech to give on wednesday, and i did on photography! It was so so stressful. From Sunday to Wednesday, i was worrying about it. You know that feeling when something weighs you down and you feel like your mind is just so occupied and you spend the day frowning? Anyway, it feels to me that when i have to do assignments and get project work done — basically work, all the more will i feel the need to be productive. Like last week, i was really packed to the max with all the assignments, sleeping late every night, having late night discussions but yet, i had to start selling my thumbdrives. Like why isn't it?! Why start really selling my thumbdrives only when all of the work begins to pile up? What kind of sense does it make. But when i am free, days that i am really slack, i have no mood to head to the gym, or do my crafting for thumbdrives or whatsoever. Its lie everything has to be crammed in at one shot.
So YES finally, after long deliberation and thinking about different scenarios, i’ve finally decided on how i am going to sell my LEGO thumbdrives! and how much they are going to be priced. Initially, i felt that the price seemed steep, however considering the work involved, especially the meticulousness of keeping the thumbdrive as clean as possible, I have to price it at $50 SGD for a 16gb thumbdrive. Hopefully people find the price reasonable because i am using quality things :) aaaand every week i can only afford to churn out 2 thumbdrives so its not a lot to begin with. I don't know if i have the time to churn out more? so I shall see about it. Anyway, i will be selling other capacities also! So in all, there will be 8gb, 16gb, 32gb and 64gb!
 
Last week was really horrendous, with all of the assignments and deadlines haunting me through the week. The week felt really heavy, until this morning when i woke up. (Last deadline was on friday, 11.59pm) Submitted the last assignment, had a glass of wine at Holland V, but that didn't lighten the mood at all somehow. Even after the 2 hours of gaming and 1 hour of browsing on the web didn't help take the weight off my mind. Sleeping helped though! Somehow, sleeping did. The thought of finally FINALLY being able to wake up whatever time i wanted to was just so peaceful. got to wake up earlier tomorrow to serve in church. lmao. and the whole week of waking early resumes right after tomorrow!
