Proud to be a child of God, a faithful son (I hope lol) a trying to be hardworking student, a part-time worker, a nerf/milsim enthusiast, a crafting and music lover and an awesome friend. to you :) Hope you have an enjoyable time reading about my life, as much as I have fun living it! |

I am a university student who loves chocolate! Coffee is my best buddy when it comes to taking on my finals. I have a tendency to want to try and do so many different things at once and as a result, I've found my hobbies to be as such!
Nerfing is one of them, but aside from that, I also love arts and craft. I have my own startup, Thumbforlego at: where I sell my works!
I love to do all sorts of crafting, so you will see me uploading posts of my leathercrafts, thumbdrives, replica guns, nerf gun modifications and gundam models! I'm fortunate enough to be blessed by really supportive parents and given the chance to explore many, many parts of the world and try out a plethora of activities. This is also how I discovered my love for film photography, videography and piano.
The film photo above is unedited! My family loves cold countries xD. We managed to catch the northern lights twice!
I've also gotten the chance to experience many of nature's wonders
And my most freezing experience to date: riding a husky ski sled into the sunset (It was -38 to -40 degrees celsius and the huskies were pretty fast.)

Why 36000feetabove? This is the altitude that commercial planes cruise at and I have always loved the view up in the sky, being amongst the sea of clouds. :) Personally, my favourite favourite food has got to be airplane buns! Does anyone else feel the same way?! With a slice of butter and looking out of the window, I have yet to find an experience that can beat that.
After tomorrow, before today

Life.....has been really really busy! well since when am i not busy. but with this busy schedule of mine, i am still trying to meet up with people and have fun too! life isn't all about studying, but its about chilling too. Now with my gyming from monday to thursdays, in the evenings after school, i do feel very very drained out at times and like unable to "recover". Fridays are used for me to catch up on sleep especially or anything nerf related :) This weekend, i am really busy with schoolwork! (kinda ironic that i am blogging now, but i guess i need to get stuff out of my mind and relax. Not that the stuff are gonna be verbally vomitted here lmao) School sucks, with all the workload piling up, but what to do?!Moreover, i took time off to visit Lee Kuan Yew as he lay at the Parliament House. I went on thursday with alicia as we did not have school on friday. They estimated the queuing time to be 10 hours then, but we took approximately 5 hours. Queue times became the talk of the town for this week, with a #prayforlky hashtag floating around. Many of us also collected decals and pasted it on our cars. On my end, i do have some decals at home, while i pasted a "SG50" sticker on my laptop while having the LKY black ribbon velcro to my bag. I found it kind of amazing as to how Singaporeans came together as one to mourn over the death of our founding father and also supporting one another by giving out free snacks like twiggies and water, to torn up cardboards so the people could sit on the floor. I also saw the ugly side of Singaporeans cutting the S-shaped queues at the holding area and pushing and budging to get in front. This on top of a grossly littered Padang. I don't understand how people can cut queue when paying respects to MM Lee. There were also a ton of heartwarming sights and gestures like those serving us to greet us 'good morning' at 5am in a light hearted tone to lighten the atmosphere, with some in the queue reciprocating. man i haven't been on instagram for a long time! (2 days to be exact) What particularly touched my heart were scenes like handicapped people still wanted to come and queue up, and school students donning their uniforms. I saw school students entering the parliament house at 5am. I started queuing around 12am so they probably started around the same time. What touched me was that they were actually prepared to queue so long that they donned their uniform, ready to go to school right after paying their respects. Alicia and I were expecting to queue till 8am after which we planned to go for breakfast, but we were out after 5.30am so we decided to head home! At least we managed to bid one last farewell to a really remarkable leader of Singapore. Extremely grateful for all that LKY has done for us, that now students my age are able to enjoy the fruits of his labour. Us uni kids were only exposed to a very minimal extent of his policies as compared to our grandparents who experienced his leadership of moulding Singapore into a first world country, from a third world country. "Ten years from now, this will be a metropolis. Never fear!” — 1965, Sembawang Grassroots Event I am 23 years old this year. My generation and the ones before will never be able to fully comprehend the change that has occurred in Singapore. From the healthcare reforms to the housing and birthrate policies 1975, Minister Lee Kuan Yew delivered. I feel that it really takes a person of certain stature to be able to pass such promises to the people especially during a difficult time period and yet most importantly, being able to deliver. I found it really breathtaking for someone to have that much confidence that he will be able to deliver, more so when Singapore was a volatile mixture of different races. Even though we now are still a huge mix of races in this little island state, there is far greater stability now. Surely he did not accomplish all of these single-handedly. LKY had a team to work with and bring about the success that Singapore is experiencing today but it goes to show his leadership skills as well as the people who worked for him, how supportive they are towards his vision for a clean, green Singapore. He was the direction-setter and man did he put us on a good direction. leaving us with a stable foundation built upon well-founded policies. There is good reason why he is called the founding father of Singapore. Without his far sighted vision, i have no idea where this little nation of ours will be at and what kind of standard of living we will be having. Especially given that we have close to nothing to offer to the world in the past. I hope that the previous generations will understand that whatever we are enjoying now, a high standard of living, being one of the Asian Tigers, having good infrastructure, a peaceful and stable nation. These things that we are blessed with, it didn't come by chance, neither was it given to us. Our previous generations worked hard for it with the guidance of good leadership. Now we are the ones who will take ownership of our country. To those guys serving national service, you don't have a choice to serve, but there's a reason why and make it worthwhile. As I told my brother, don't let other people defend your family for you, train hard and be able to defend your own loved ones. Minister Sir, you will be dearly missed. Thank you for all that you have done. I am truly proud to be Singaporean. Friday, March 20, 2015
OH YEAH finally project work is done for one of my modules and mid terms are gone!! i have exactly one week to chill, until statistic tests hits me again next tuesday bleah. Anyway, i guess i breathed in too much glue for today, lungs feel a little painful when i breathe in. oops! I've been making darts again, and made another thumbdrive today!this one is meant to be given away. Although i am seriously considering selling these in future :) hehe and i am able to do them in 16gb, 32gb and 64gb! :P and they are Sandisk thumbdrives so nothing will go wrong! i thought like hey! why not do a short video of what i do on a friday afternoon, so here it is! its just 48seconds of probably rubbish lmao :P but it just gives you a feel of what's it like to be ming yang for just that short while! I guess it will be interesting to blog about how i live my life, so others can see how i live mine! anyway, random thought. Wouldnt it be weird if one day in future, your kids actually chance upon your blog? awkward~~~ i don't know. But it still sounds pretty cool! NEVERMIND MY MESSY TABLE. I haven't touched it in a long while (a few weeks) so everything just piles up. and given my handicrafts stuffs...i tend to have lots of materials laying around we had presentation on wednesday and we decided to come school early to prep. reached school 30mins before our first class, 30mins late from our agreed timing and we spent 5 minutes prepping LOL. Instead of going for our first class, we felt too bored so we decided to skip class and go to Holland V to chill! There, we ended up drinking, just 2 bottles to be safe! man it felt good to just chill and slack on a school day, but not when you have to present right back when you reach school. Exactly what happened to us heh. although fortunately 2 groups had to go before us. How i wish i can just spend this kind of slacking life with all of my schoolmates, just enjoying each other's company!
our crazy group drinking and chilling while prepping for presentation. and its fun just being able to chit chat and laugh together with my friends!
On previous saturday, we went jamming as a cell group! or rather part of our cell group. and for once, i tried to play piano accompaniment for church songs. Well all the while, at most, i've only played sheet music for church songs, meaning reading from the scores and playing it whereas for accompaniment its reading of chords instead.... i'll take a photo next time...i'm still trying to get the hang of it :) next time can be keyboardist wohoo! :D somehow i find reading scores a whole lot easier than reading chords -.- for now, perhaps. even though we played lots of noise but eventually i think we managed to make music....! we are super super noob at this, but i guess we can afford more practice and improve :) anyway, last weekend, i had my first nerf war in the night! yes other than schoolwork, i do have the outdoor side of me enjoying these nerf battles. Man it was pretty interesting trying out a new location and having so many new people joining :) and this time round, it is in an urban area with a huge huge playing area which makes it even more fun! the layout of the whole place is superb because we are talking about industrial area size, giving us much room to play. well what other better way than to watch one of the skirmishes that i've recorded! These are unedited so they may be long at times but it shows you exactly how a match is like! Half a match to be exact~ this was the last match for the night :P this is part 1... and part 2! the war was pretty fun even though i was wearing sunglasses as eye protection so....LOL i could barely even trace my darts in the night. dont know why was i being such a retard xD and there was lots of wind present during the game too as we were battling about 4 floors above? but nevertheless it was a really fun time trying out this new playing grounds, cant wait for the next war! :D sigh i really hope my new loadout will be completed soon and everything in order, but before i go for any war, there is XShot coming up first, which is a timed shooting competition! well that's all i have for this week, have an enjoyable week ahead yeah! :) Wednesday, March 11, 2015
im so so sorry guys for disappearing again!! i'm pretty sure half of my blog posts starts off with some apology for procrastinating. I was supposed to plan out my schedule for this week tonight, but have yet to do so....probably gonna end up doing it tomorrow. then you'll be wondering, why am i even planning my week's schedule on a tuesday night...usually, i will do it on every sunday evening! however this weekened's kept me real busy, and i just finished 2 mid term papers today!! which explains my disappearance... I had World Civilisation and survey on mass communication mid terms, of which even up till now, i have no idea why am i even learning world civilisation, not to mention it being a core module in my uni?! it has little/no value add to us seriously :(( worst part is that after reading my notes, i still had no idea whatever that is happening, its just facts after facts, requiring lots of memory work! its just like a story book you could say. a storybook of the lives of people from 1000CE bleah. our lecturer is really nice, but his classes unfortunately put me to sleep so so well! T.T its the same one that i posted a photo of my classroom. survey on mass comm was quite alright, so no worries for that one! hoping i can score well for that, although i cant safely say so for world civilisation.... and i cant imagine that this is just the introductory mod, fall this year i will have to take another, and then spring next year with a higher level world civ mod *stabs self*haha this time i am blogging on how my brother is handling national service :) not my story, but my brother's from my point of view, although i do talk quite a lot with my brother! over the weekends that is- you can read my BMT story here. it's the last week of my bro's confinement! aaaaand to say the least, he isnt coping well in BMT at all. All these while he has been always spoon-fed by mum, when it comes to clothes, laundries, he doesn't even clean up his own area..so for him, he doesnt seem to be handling it well. My brother is obese, like me in the past. However he is always at home playing computer, i am more of an outgoing person, many of you will know that i love to go out and nerf! so brother's perspective will be very different from mine, also how he copes with BMT. We were brought on a tour around, and this is exactly where is used to shed those fats of mine!! at the exact same hard floor or whatever they call it. hard court? Bro is ending his confinement period but he has already chalked up a ton of medication and has lots of body pains here and there. before enlisting, i did workout and go for regular runs for fear that i could not keep up with training, however on bro's side, his League of Legends champions did all the running for him so he is suffering quite badly in camp now... it's important to condition your body PROPERLY. wrong conditioning might even put you in a bad spot! form is always very important, keep your posture during exercises right and good! if need be, ask for help :) even now with my knee injury, i just got my posture corrected for my lunges and squats so i do not strain my knee in any way! Ah when i saw this view, nostalgia flooded me, i really missed those fun times of exercising and training with my section mates. Everyone's story is different, so i thought, hey! might as well write about my brother's experience too! although i am not there to experience it, i'll try to make sense with whatever information i have gathered :) ah so now i know how it feels when my parents and bro had a tour around pulau tekong! this is their second time around, but it is my first! in a bus and not marching. Brother never did any housework, he does not know how to, and tends to practice escapism. he will do everything to avoid these stuffs if able to. just tonight, 3 more days away from his first official bookout (although he did come out to collect A levels), he is complaining about back pains and whatnot, although i think he is just suffering from shin splints. Also, because he does not know how to watch his hygiene, he is now down with fungus growing in his toenail, so he should be walking around BMT in sandals now. So guys, hygiene is very important! when you go in to camp, treat it like your house, you need to be able to adapt, to sleep well and also ensure personal hygiene, changing of clothes and washing if necessary. if not things may just get complicated like my brother! now he even has thoughts of being out of training and redoing BMT which is so ridiculous...at least to me. I feel he should at least press on and try to adapt to living a life more independent. Training in BMT is progressive at a good pace, so you should be able to keep up with the exercise regimes! I used to always call home and call my cell group leader, being accountable that yes everyday after training i am fine! and that i am safe and all :) parents will definitely love to hear from their children how they are doing in camp, i believe even a simple "hello, yes i am alright" will bring them great reassurance! Bro randomly texts the family whatsapp chatgroup from time to time, i don't know, it could be that he is either too tired from the day's training, or he has already integrated and bonded with his section mates! either way, i hope he does not feel too discouraged in camp and recovers well to get back to training. Once he sets his mind to getting fitter, i am sure he would be able to do it! gah i just hope that bro can learn how to be "sustainable" in camp and be more independent, taking charge of his life. I just spent last saturday night writing his field camp letter, and i hope that in time to come, he will be reading the letter after digging his shell scrape. i wrote him a letter that will bring tears in his eyes MUAHAHAHA but i shall not share the letter here, not yet. |
