Proud to be a child of God, a faithful son (I hope lol) a trying to be hardworking student, a part-time worker, a nerf/milsim enthusiast, a crafting and music lover and an awesome friend. to you :) Hope you have an enjoyable time reading about my life, as much as I have fun living it! |
Minimalist
I am a university student who loves chocolate! Coffee is my best buddy when it comes to taking on my finals. I have a tendency to want to try and do so many different things at once and as a result, I've found my hobbies to be as such!
Nerfing is one of them, but aside from that, I also love arts and craft. I have my own startup, Thumbforlego at: where I sell my works!
I love to do all sorts of crafting, so you will see me uploading posts of my leathercrafts, thumbdrives, replica guns, nerf gun modifications and gundam models! I'm fortunate enough to be blessed by really supportive parents and given the chance to explore many, many parts of the world and try out a plethora of activities. This is also how I discovered my love for film photography, videography and piano.
The film photo above is unedited! My family loves cold countries xD. We managed to catch the northern lights twice!
I've also gotten the chance to experience many of nature's wonders
And my most freezing experience to date: riding a husky ski sled into the sunset (It was -38 to -40 degrees celsius and the huskies were pretty fast.)

Why 36000feetabove? This is the altitude that commercial planes cruise at and I have always loved the view up in the sky, being amongst the sea of clouds. :) Personally, my favourite favourite food has got to be airplane buns! Does anyone else feel the same way?! With a slice of butter and looking out of the window, I have yet to find an experience that can beat that.
After tomorrow, before today

Okay seriously every single time i see the word levi, this is what comes up on my head:Yeapppp its Captain Levi from Attack on Titan! Seriously cant help but feel this way. Well on the third day of my finland trip...It was a pretty 'meh' day as in we didnt really do much stuff, other than reindeer sleds and horse sleds! This also marks as the first day whereby the tour group is actually doing activities out in the chilly climate :) Other than the teens already playing in the snow for the night! (y) Woot best night of December EVARRRRRRRR!! Previously, we arrived on plane, 250km into the artic circle into snow-covered levi, but it was already late enough for dinner. Whereas for today, After a short walk to the celebration house for breakfast, we were greeted by the usual traditional Finnish breakfast, (mind you the darknest is like 8am??) For them, yogurt is a cery common thing! along with milk and cereal, a totally cold breakfast is actually one of the options that you have over there! :) Then again, its buffet, so just eat everything! Oh yes, not to forget, the vast choice of cheese is also available. For me, i tend to go for the warmer food! Though frankly speaking what exactly is warmer food in this kinda temperature. I always love butter and bread :D So gimme that big slab of butter to start off with that bread yeah! (y) the bread they have there are pretty rock hard. Totally not what you would expect from the usual Gardenia white bread :P That foodie you see on the left? Ahhhh i forgot what's it called ://///// sighhhh but its like...soft mushy cakey stuff in the middle of really hard dough! xD i notice the food there tend to be really hard, and the coffee really bitter. Hence, i always end up spamming sugar and milk into the coffee that i would actually need to drink some first, before adding in more milk! That's what it looks like in the inside. Forgot where did the other slab of butter on my plate went. My stomach or bro's plate. It's a bit like those Yong Tau Foo that Singaporeans like to eat. HO HO while bread and butter never fails to please me! Somehow, i have this weird liking towards those buns that they serve in flight. In the morning, they dont have those flashy lights and tadaaaa! it looks so warm right!! especially with those amazing reindeer horns chandeliers :D Bleah what's there nice to see here, who can be bothered with the snow. Let's just read the newspapers like before aye? but did you know that it is actually snowing pretty heavily? just that the camera doesnt catch the snow falling, unless you use flash like so! That's quite a lot huh!!
HORSE SLED WOOT
Soon after breakfast, that is when the skies really got brighter. There is no sun in this region, just daylight! a really short one though.... around 3 hours of daylight? :/ We quickly proceeded on to the reindeer sled!! After having breakfast and warmed up, you wouldnt really feel so cold in this -15 to -20degrees region, however if you take off your gloves, you'll definitely start to feel the chill! Soon after walking to the reindeer sled area, yes thats a real Sami, of which i have no idea how they live in such cold weather!! not the slightest bit! Mind you i was wearing my winter inner layer to sleep in the glass igloo alright.. Say Hiiiiiiiiii~! Wohoo! even though they are really burly, they arent really that tall! *phew!* unlike people in Sweden, they are SUPER tall alright. Their feet are really huge though! look at my height look at my height! woot just a tad shorter and i wasnt tip toeing okayyyyyy REINDEER. Like the first time i've seen one up close and alive. The only ones that i've seen so far have either became stew or canned in the supermarket. Surprisingly, the reindeers have a mind of their own! So....even though they are tamed, wild animals, they still have a wild side in them! (guys dont think astray) But yeah! They dont really listen to you at times. :) That's how we sit in the sled actually! Ahhh this one, we drive ourselves. Though like nobody thought us anything, but it travels in a huge circle, of which the halfway point already got pretty freezing i think! xD Yes its 1 reindeer to two humans, though it's like kinda a struggle for them. Later on we had horse! which is VERY different.Horse ride, not horse meat. They run pretty fast alright! like all energetic and stuff, but you see they have a mind of their own! so when mine got tired, it ended up stopping and eating snow at the side. No matter what you do, it will just glance at you, and go back to eating its snow. -_-"' totally wont listen to you! so you have random people stopping halfway around the track xD not quite the reindeers i thought they would be alright! Still managed to take photo with one of em! I got to mess around with their head, even though we were told not to. lol rebel at work :P Its a reflex to do something that others tell you not to. So yes i scalded my hand because of a boiling kettle before. come to think of it, the reindeer doesnt look like it wants to take photo with me! i think i used shutter speed of 1sec to get this exposure O.o Its not that bright over there. Dad got nudged by the same reindeer after he tried touching its head xD bwahahaha!! Next, we moved on to horse sled!! this one is guided by their peeps, so we just sit back and chill. we took the last four seats, which was quite good!! They put reindeer skins on the seats for us, but frankly speaking in this kinda weather, the amount of clothes you are wearing....no way you're gonna feel that reindeer skin alright! For horse, its like 2 horses to about ten peeps? and the horses are very very strong. a lot stronger than reindeers. They handle the 10 of us with ease! Though it kinda makes it 11 since bro is so fat whutttttttt. Can you imagine these horses can go without any warm blankets or whatsoever and easily survive in this kinda weather?! like what?!?! By the time we started the horse sled, i was already feeling cold!! So two horse sleds were there to bring us around! I quite liked the horse one because you just sit back and enjoy the scenery! though the creaking sounds that the wooden sled makes kinda leaves me a little uneasy at times. like dude can this thing even hold up?? We passed by the main reception place! Frankly speaking by here, i was freezing, especially my hands. I thought like whuttt finish!! we can all hide in the reception area and warm up! but nope, we went past it. While mum tries to take a selfie. The scenery is so white right?? Everything is just white there! But wait till later on when we went to a zoo, (like seriously who goes to a zoo when temperatures dip below -30??) that was really a WHITE CHRISTMAS. you'll understand why in my future posts! Oh yes! we passed by the glass igloos, Mine it the leftmost one. Anyway, all look identical. Plus the glass igloo is really more of a fun thing and a one time experience thing! It's not really a place for you to sleep or what, but the snow here is awesome!! Judging by how much fun we had during the night!! :D :D That's the celebration house, yeah the horses were that fast alright!! There's actually a river over there. Just cant tell when it's all snowy! people actually live here...i have no idea how they survive, but they're probably used to it! Soon after, our trip to the glass igloo is pretty much done! now, its time for us to head over to the ski resort! That place is really really nice :3 Now how long was that bus trip....3hours?? we had a stopover at a mart for toilet and snacks and of course, how could i possibly forgo the chocolates that they have! Here, you see a lake that is partially frozen! :) Didnt take much photographs at this point because i was sleeping in the bus, catching up on the much needed sleep since playing in the snow at night! :) Gee i hope i didnt snore too loud or drool too much :P i tend to snore too loud at times though whoops! but i dont think i did :P After some gingerbread cookies.... and lunch! wasnt that nice but nevermind. just normal. And a pop over at the supermarket! Definitely gotta do a price check for this mannnn. Hmm they do have hunger games books here! Nope, kids are not for sale. though the trolley is pretty cute eh! somehow it does remind me of a garbage truck whoops :x THIS. is very common! its actually recycling machines, and you can use these to get discounts off your purchases actually. :) you apparently collect this token thing. I dont know how it works! although i've read about it online before somewhere xD KOUA-LUCKY ski village! Like finallyyyyyyyy. by the time we've reached, i think the temperature went up slightly. Also, we had some time on our hands before dinner! wow i just realised i didnt take photo of the reception area....pretty sure mum did... lemme search... oh that;s the view from afar! hehe here, you can see two routes for skiing! though there's like a lot more xD seriously the people here are really serious about skiing man. so crazy o.o Woot! so yeah mum's camera did have photos of the reception area afterall xD This is how the ski village looks like! its really huge eh!! I was really stunned when i opened the windows man, this is the scenery from my hotel room! :D :D like wohoo!! there's a pile of snow at my porch too. Sooooo tempted to make snowballs and throw them out of the window :3 but the snow outside was later used to chill the water that i boiled :P we have cold water!! Oh yes for all the hotel rooms, me and bro stayed together, which means i gotta take care of all the needs like water and stuff! so im the one boiling all the water and filling up the water bottles. wow so much water in a few sentences. our room~! Ahhhhh i was too lazy to take a photo of the whole room. Instead, i quickly cuddled under the small blanket for some warmth as the room was pretty cold despite having the heater on at max! After lazing around for a good 2 hours, (the perks of being with dynasty travel instead of chan brothers) we had dinner! And after dinner, we were supposed to chase northern lights :> like finally, NORTHERN lightssssss. We didnt have much luck at the glass igloo, so i was really hoping that here would have! although i was really super lazy, especially in such a cold weather, to go out and take photos. like seriously my body goes into hibernation mode xD When you first enter the restaurant from here... you will be shocked by how big it is inside! This is actually WAY further in, where all the food are! its a really huge dining area for us and everywhere is really dark! on the first night, though i cant really differentiate between morning and night there, it wasnt crowded! but second night onwards was getting increasingly crowded with more and more tour groups coming in. No complaints about the selection of food! What you see on this massive table is just one side of the foodies!! they have another side too! like WOHOOOO eat to my hearts content!! Stupidly, i took a blur photo of the menu. End up when i zoomed in, cant see what they served. -_-"' fail. sigh! MORE FOOD :D But like who would go for bread when you have meat!! like salmon and reindeer meat! there, salmon is all too common man. not to mention, they do a very good job in cooking it! unlike in SG, it comes out pretty dried stiff or hard at times, this one is really soft!! its like eating it raw? but not that spongy that's all. Coupled with really awesome sauce, there is no way you can complain at all alright! That's the main entrance :) Everything is just covered in snow really!! do you see a second glass door inside?? in between, they have massive fans that blow out really hot air!! ^^ so you feel all comfy when you enter! :) At the reception area, you have lukewarm temperature, so its just for that mini cubicle over there! before leaving for the northern lights, everyone gathers for a session of Wifi. It's kinda sad to see how dependent we are on wifi, but oh well!! So we walked quite some distance and braved the freezing weather!! it was REALLY REALLY cold alright!! like who in the world goes out at night at such a timing?! US!! what i really loved about climbing up so high is that YOU CAN REALLY SEE THE STARSSSSS. its so pretty okay!!!! and for a guy to say that its really pretty....hohoho its really good alright!! somehow, you feel so much closer to the stars! like they appear so so much brighter, YOU CAN EVEN SEE ALL THE CONSTELLATIONSSSSS!! though i didnt see my Gemini :(( apparently sarah saw it. bleah! well most of the time, i just raised my head and wowed in awe.....it was just....too....beautiful. :') being able to see ALL the stars so clearly!!!!!!! but but but it sure was rewarding, for we FINALLY got to see the northern lights okay!! you have no idea how amazed we were!! :D Although it was really mild, because the best season is in feb, at first i was like is that northern lights..... and true enough yes!! hehe so, i set up my tripod with my camera set at 30sec shutter speed! SADLY, 30seconds isnt long enough.... DDDDD: it was so disappointing that the shots that i captured was so meh. you cant even see the greenish lights right?!?!! well luckily, even though EVERYONE's camera couldnt capture the northern lights for the first time, one fo em managed to!! so one by one, the groups went to take a photo with the northern lights!! with some of the shots coming out really spectacularly!! HEHE his shutter speed was set to 60sec T^T i dont know why my camera cant reach to such long shutter speeds, gotta call up canon and ask :/ for once, my beloved canon sx40hs have failed me. :((( I SPECIALLY ENLARGED THE NEXT TWO PHOTOS WOOT SAY HI TO ALL THE PIXELSSSSSSS Yeah i held my arms still for a minute xD HAHAHA NOT BAD RIGHTTTTTT. Really spectacular huh!! hehe luckily, i had better luck later on xD it was VERY VERY coldddddd T^T like seriously i think it was minus 30 then. And when the cold wind blows~ ho ho that's it man. *stabs self with tripod* but i'm aliveeeeee! Three shots! |
