okokok this happened like eons ago. i think eons = weeks for me....but anyway! yeah mom, grandma and my aunt went over to Malaysia ONCE AGAIN. this time, not for LEGOs but for a farm trip! that was the same weekend when i had the sleepover at my friends place. i kinda forgot about the sleepover since it was mentioned a long time ago, and told mum i could go for the farm trip. oops! hmmm but the farm trip was  kinda like an eye opener to me in terms of fruits -.- in the itenerary, there was a tour around a fruit farm, a visit at the chocolate cocoa shop (which sold really awesome chocolates at low prices), an ostrich farm and last of all was the fireflies viewing! the highlight of the trip is actually the fireflies part, so the rest were kinda like 'fillers' but they do have their own interesting part! for me, i personally liked the fruit farm the most. :)

*yawn* slept at like 4am last night and woke up at 10am?? sheeesh so now im still feeling kinda weird. hmmm what was i doing up so late? chatting. :P life seems pretty confusing now! its like at a stage whereby i have no idea what to do. as in like sorta lost perhaps? its like just dont know! im not talking about like university or jobs or NS, but just like dont know what to do! well anway coming back to the topic, so far this is the second time i have been to malaysia from at least a decade ago and one thing that is for sure is that the people there seem kinder than singaporeans!

Moooooving on to the first stop, cocoa factory shop! it was just a mini stopover like that...you know like how every tour group always has like shops to visit... the only good part about this place is that i bought some chocolates from there! other than that, they were like just telling us how they get cocoa from cocoa beans! frankly speaking i dont really remember THAT much about the trip since its been quite some time and i had other things to think about~

oh yes! i MIGHT do a second post again maybe tonight or tomorrow.. :) afterall, its CHRISTMAS EVE todayyyy!! :D but im staying at home, burning it awayyyyyy.

oh i just realised i have no photos for the chocolate shop. thats cool! NEXT. the fruit farm! okay this one is way more interesting and it isnt exactly a fruit farm either! show ya why~

hmmm it was kinda rushing to like get a nice zoom from my camera. im using the Canon sx 40hs and it can get quite hard to manually focus the object! its just like that.. but other than that, i prefer this camera to a chunky DSLR. :)
oops i forgot! see the white part on the underside of the leaf? it means that the dragon fruit is white in colour. :)


UHHHH This is like where the whole fruit trail thing starts. hmmm... contrary to what the sign says, there was not that much of passion fruits though.


HAH oh God i really forgot all the names of the fruits! im like so bad at thisssss. im taking a guess that this is a passion fruit.

okay the specialty of this farm is that they use the bees to do the pollination, as well as collect the honey from the bees to be sold to tourists like us. :)


mango tree! i dont think i have ever seen one. gee as i keep going on to blog about this, it seems as though im getting pretty deprived huh! never seen before this fruit tree, that fruit tree~

OH YES now i remember one part! they actually wrap the fruits with different stuffs, like some are wrapped with newspaper, or plastic bags and some are wrapped with both! i learnt that there. and well its because some of the fruits cannot be exposed to too much sunlight, so newspapers are used to wrap them instead! dont know what happens if it rains...but anyway, the others that cant be damaged by sunlight will be wrapped with the usual plastic bag! oh yeah plastic bag because the smell doesnt get out and attract the birds.


OHOH this is something cool. you notice how the bananas grow upwards instead?? like usually it grows downwards what. plus this one has a pink flower to top it off! actually, its poisonous!! werid huh? its even weirder if you actually wonder why they grow it in the farm.

OKAY I FAILED. WENT TO SLEEP AND THIS IS ANOTHER MORNING.

OKAY from here on, its what makes this "fruit" farm so interesting that its the best part of the whole one day trip of Malaysia Desaru. :) well inside the fruit farm, there is also an ANIMAL FARM!!! and its like not even mentioned in the itenerary (yes i actually read the itenerary for the first time on the bus to the fruit farm. the ride was soooo long! and sleeping was kinda impossible though it was pretty comfy in the bus!

ever since i whipped out my camera, the duck has been like drinking water all the way -.- cant take a proper photo lah...

see see? so far, the mini animal farm has really loads of animals! let alone all those birds that i didnt take photo of. it was so awesome! it was a pleasant surprise for me and it was a WHOLE lot better than looking at just fruits fruits fruits!

ahhhh this farm also has an ostrich. i  thought it was going to be the ostrich farm on the itinerary  luckily it wasnt cuz it was kinda pathetic..


Thats where we had our lunch...it was 3 tour groups combined together. and this is one of the spreads that we had!

they said it was buffet, but i didnt see anyone topping up the food la. -.-


kinda like army cookhouse food to me? but well it was alright..

After lunch, it was some talk on bee honey products like it was supposed to be an education session but obviously, it became more of a marketing session! and of course at the end of the "talk" there was a session whereby people could actually buy the products they had. Ahhhh....i left the room to grab some bubblegum and chewing gum instead -.-

so after a long bus ride, we actually land in an ostrich farm! it was kinda small, but then again i wasnt expecting like this huge farm. hmmm...but they have like loads of enclosures holding ostriches of different ages. :)




this one shows the mini ostriches enclosure. hmmm apparently they bite on like anything despite having no teeth? and they love shiny objects!!


here, the uncle shows us how he drills the ostrich egg so as to preserve the shell, since the shell can be sold for quite an amount! surprisingly, the ostrich egg is REALLY HARD.


THATs how much is inside. kinda insane...but yeah!!

at the shop, i managed to catch hold of a pretty interesting sight! its a baby ostrich which was just a day old!!

hmmmm this looked pretty interesting, so mum decided to buy some so that we could try it out!


OKAY this is ostrich satay. hmm....it tastes slightly similar to chicken satay? just that the meat is more firm! :)
if ever given a choice, i would choose this over chicken.


this is an ostrich egg omelette  obviously its a WHOLE lot bigger than the usual omelette! mind you this is one egg. unlike egg omelettes.

here is a close up, it seriously looks like sponge! but doesnt taste like one. its kinda similar to the usual omelette but with a really unique taste! in a nice way :)


RAW OSTRICH MEAT. it seriously looks like any other red meat!


NEXT we had to walk through this town to our eatery. its like we were supposed to shop around there first, like some free and easy. of which was just....i dont know. there was nothing there!


this is actually one of those toys that i used to play in the past! ahhhh its like one of those toys that the older generations would know! kids these days just play with their iphones. even adults are pretty hooked on themselves!


ahhh this is the eatery! we had quite a nice meal,there were loads of seafood and some usual dishes like tofu? sharks fin soup too! of which i couldnt find any sharks fin. wow what i tell ya bout people being engrossed with their iphones?? tadahh!!

OKOK my fingers are starting to hurt after all the continuous typing..here is the FINAL part. fireflies!

ahhh while waiting, you know what's kong ming lantern? we played with those! so basically we wrote our wishes on the lantern like what i did below...



Then....you set fire to the piece of solid fuel at the bottom. like such.

and.... just let it go!


so then the rest of the time was spent waiting and waiting...

you see when night came, there was absolute zero lighting, which makes photography really hard and we cant use camera flash! so.....i had to set my camera to maximise aperture while i tried my best to control the extremely slow shutter speed whilst being in a vibrating boat. (and no, me counter-vibrating didnt turn out well)

ALMOST pitch black...

WHILST sailing along the river, i managed to really really utilise the extremely slow shutter speeds to bring you some pint sized glows in the dark from the fireflies!



these photos were taken with like bloody 20x++ optical zoom on a vibrating boat with horrible shutter speeds. -.- had one hell of a time trying to snap photos!
