I am a university student who loves chocolate! Coffee is my best buddy when it comes to taking on my finals. I have a tendency to want to try and do so many different things at once and as a result, I've found my hobbies to be as such!
Nerfing is one of them, but aside from that, I also love arts and craft. I have my own startup, Thumbforlego at: where I sell my works!
I love to do all sorts of crafting, so you will see me uploading posts of my leathercrafts, thumbdrives, replica guns, nerf gun modifications and gundam models! I'm fortunate enough to be blessed by really supportive parents and given the chance to explore many, many parts of the world and try out a plethora of activities. This is also how I discovered my love for film photography, videography and piano.
The film photo above is unedited! My family loves cold countries xD. We managed to catch the northern lights twice!
I've also gotten the chance to experience many of nature's wonders
And my most freezing experience to date: riding a husky ski sled into the sunset (It was -38 to -40 degrees celsius and the huskies were pretty fast.)

Why 36000feetabove? This is the altitude that commercial planes cruise at and I have always loved the view up in the sky, being amongst the sea of clouds. :) Personally, my favourite favourite food has got to be airplane buns! Does anyone else feel the same way?! With a slice of butter and looking out of the window, I have yet to find an experience that can beat that.
After tomorrow, before today

Once again, im back from camp and i am sick! dont know why, but this morning, i had a really bad head pain on the right side of the head, internally. it got so bad, that i ended up running a fever! sleep was the only way. I did that, and in the end, had to miss the A&F event for my church :( sobs! how i wish i could go! but oh well, its better to rest at home and not spread the sickness to anyone. Training this week was tough! It kept on getting harder and harder, but thats understandable. Found it pretty manageable but yet again, my thigh muscles are aching! NUUUUUU!!! T.T well now i cant walk down the stairs normally :D look like a goon when im walking down the stairs xD lets throw in a photo of me wearing army uniform now! look totally different without hair. oops i mean little hair :)
you know spending all five of the weekdays in that dreaded island pulau tekong really causes me to miss all those hobbies of mine! i have yet to touch my piano for this week, of which i am intending to later after i finish this blogpost. oh oh and my gundam is still left unfixed for 3 weeks! all thanks to uni applications and sicknesses. But hey! good news! i got accepted into UTAS (university of tasmania) um its a 3 year bachelor of architecture, then plus another 2 years for masters. so its like a 5 years masters programme! everything there looks really enticing, but the only setback is that i cant bear to leave SG for 5 years! especially when i have so many good friends here. Even though we have facebook and youtube now, even skype, nothing beats meeting face to face :) and i also have thoughts that if i get used to life in australia within that 5 years, chances are i wont be coming back to SG! so my only hope of being able to study something that i enjoy, is SUTD. hope they call me up for an interview! This week, we did lots of training for the legs! weird thing is that we did like near zero core muscle training o.o for the first time, the whole week training had very little emphasis on core muscles. LOADS of thigh muscles training this time round! so much till my legs are aching like mad. walking down stairs like a penguin! This weekend...seems to go by extremely fast! maybe also because i book out late..REACHED PASIR RIS AT LIKE 11:30>?!?!?! super late! so...friday is gone. 3/4 of saturday was spent sleeping, the last 1/4 is currently being spent on editing stuffs. Have yet to spend time to spend with my model :( and tomorrow i will be busy socialising! Plus church early in the morning! looks like i will spend some time catching up on Gundam Age tonight and get my fingers working on my piano tml first thing in the morning! Cant imagine in my bunk in army camp has a piano hmm...SOUNDS COOL!! so far army life has been really rewarding, learning lots of stuffs and my physical fitness is improving real quickly! just hope i can get more time with my model next weekend. long weekend tml! wheeeeee!! Hoho its been so long since i touched blogging! Decided to update it because of the SUTD application! its about time i showcased some of the past personal projects that i have worked on.. hmmm lets start with the old ones to the new ones up till today!well lets start off with the "Lego Base" that i did last time! ![]() thats an old photo, i intend to keep building upwards and store my lego creations here! so its like...over the years, people can see the progression BUT im still racking my brains on how to do so..some creations are just too big D: need more lego parts~! so as for now, its still at the same height whilst my creations have spilled onto the neighbouring table and furnitures :) next~moving on to..nerf and replica guns! just a short one, and i would end off with some recent lego creations :) ![]() this is what i do, modifying the internals and externals, not forgetting giving it a paintjob too! my nerf guns always get a chance to meet my coping saw, because the plastic is just too thick to slowly use a marking knife to cut! so...this is when all my big tools come into play :) Moooving on to a replica gun that i did! i actually tried to model a HK416, from a M4, so thats how it looks like! I had to put weights inside to make it more solid as well as give it the weight that is similar to the actual gun ;) ![]() this is a finished product of a replica gun..well just halfway there ;) i decided to give it some weathering painting. Here is an exerpt of the process that i do. :D enjoy! now to show some photos of the process on how i go about making them! ![]() oh this is the barrel of the replica gun getting some cuttings! had to fill up the holes, touch-up work later on. ![]() ahhh! my feet got into the picture! thats the filling up of the insides to give it a more solid feel to it! ![]() hmmmm this seems a tad too black eh? not realistic enough...so now is the time to go painting! ![]() here is a photo showing the three different colours that i use. ah first is matt black for the non-metallic parts, then a metallic black coating for the metal parts and...a desert-brown in the name of FUN! so thats how i got to the very first replica gun photo. then on, i did some weathering to make it a little more realistic. ![]() This is the finished product! It also includes weights inside to simulate the actual thing, along with a removable magazine! This looks closer to the real thing ;) ![]() Here is how i did the removable magazine! all the tools...ah i used the screwdriver and the hammer to bore out the fillings in the plastic so as to better fit in the magazine. Then, i used the marking knife to further touch up on the sides so that it fits snugly. Moving on to Gundam models, i shall showcase one of my past works and one that i am currently doing right now! just that progress for that one is really slow due to National Service.. ![]() this is one "ship" that got extra attachments on the sides! the actual one doesnt, looking worlds apart from this. well.. at that point in time i felt that it would look better this way, hence i rummaged through my plastics spare parts box and cemented everything together :) using the liquid cement of course! not construction cement.. ![]() this is another photo of some of the gundam models that i did in the past, as you can tell...dust has collected all over. which explains the "grey-ness". At the bottom left-hand corner of the photo, you can see some of the smaller gundam models that i did in the past ;) ![]() currently, i am working on the chest area of the PG Gundam Astray Red Frame, it has been really tedious work for the rest of the body and i am....just about half done! this is the current area that i am working on.. i chose to handbrush everything, so as to give the armour plates on the gundam abit of "uneven-ness" so as to make it more realistic, since the manufacture of such huge parts cant be possibly so flawless. Bah its not obvious in the photo..unfortunately. lets try another photo! ![]() This is my current progress for the whole gundam! Here, you can see certain parts of the gundam given a gloss coat while the rest matt coat. i did this to make it stand out more, giving it a tinch of "classy-ness"! the uneven-ness really stands out in matt coating as it gives the porcelain-ish feeling to the armour platings ;) Yes my table is in a mess! OKAY now on to LEGO. like finally. the last part. ![]() this is my creation! i somehow managed to successfully build a hanger inside the ship O.o with the top half of the hanger being built upside down! as in the studs of the lego bricks went in a different direction. man was it a feat for me! xD so glad i finished this. nicknamed it the hammerhead because of the bulky front! the front area was built on 2 different planes (first time trying out such a technique), joint together at certain key areas to keep it sturdy!:D next is a prototype! of part of a project. the project never got to see the light though.. ![]() its a really simple system that allows huge rotating blades to go in opposite directions. The main crux of the problem was trying to minimise it, so as not to be so much of an eyesore plus to connect it to the main body, whilst letting the gears do their jobs, linking it all to the motor located in the main body. THAT i have yet to figure out how.. plus i needed really sturdy supporting beams in the middle. so...project shelved! KIV. LASTLY...is the Lego creation that i adore the most! ![]() okay not the whole thing, just the transport ship. it went through loads of planning! explain why later ;) took about 1month of planning? Here are the photos of the planning stage: ![]() this is the prototype of the skeleton! i wanted to create a ship that could have the front half of it in mid-air, with the landing gears all to the back! that was a reeeeal challenge as the body had to undergo lots of changes to ensure that it wont split apart just like the titanic. The splitting was due to the sheer weight of all the bricks that would be added later on. ![]() this is how the "bombing" mechanism looks like! i later integrated this whole part into the back portion of the ship! and it was a success! ![]() this is the finished product! troops can walk back and forth inside the ship, as i made it hollow inside. there are 2 parts of the ship that the soldiers can walk about. of which i would explain more in the next photo. ![]() and this was what i meant, with half of the body above ground. :) The troops can walk around in the ship from the cockpit area all the way till the engine area as shown by the desert-brown lego piece, or where the landing gear is connected to the ship. behind that is the bombing mechanism. Also, the landing gear can fold up! ![]() this is the bombing mechanism, that also had a prototype as i had to squeeze it into the very narrow body of the aircraft! this was one of the challenges that i also faced and had to undergo lots of revision. ![]() this is how it looks like with 'bombs' inside. note they are the orange tipped stuffs hiding inside! and now the mechanism works smoothly, with all of the bombs dispensing out successfully! ![]() it has an opening hatch too! pretty cool eh! just that the angles are...a tad too high in my opinion. say hi to the robot! at its sides are some 'bombs' for the aircraft. ![]() the propulsion thingies..dont know what to call em xD also received some of my considerations. when they turn, it looks like pistons moving because of the way the lego bricks are put! its the green portion there..that whole portion will look real mechanical when in action :P added mini-boosters at the sides hehehe. WOHOO! im DONE!! ![]() "Commander, all take-off checks have been done, all systems green! We ready to go? "Yup! Lets make a move!!" |
