sooooo i spent quite a fair bit of time during this weekend to do this nerf gun up! its the nerf strongarm, which is like the upgraded version from the nerf maverick! frankly speaking, both are equally just as fun but maverick looks more bulky man. ANYWAY, whenever people ask me about my hobby, i tell them plastic modelling and the common reactions i get are like "HUH what in the world is that??!" or "ah? walk down cat walk?" so plastic modelling is actually more like Gunpla, but i do considering modding nerf guns as part of plastic modelling too :) though not quite like it and the level of expertise required kinda lays behind gunpla. but still, nerf guns are fun because you can actually play with them after you are done with the project!! something that gunpla doesnt have to offer.

so.... this weekend, i spent part of it by modifying the strongarm! i did a couple of stuffs like removing the barrel posts which kinda limited the kind of darts that can be accepted into the barrel, changed the spring inside to a much heavier spring to give it the distance, removed the locks because all these features are just for safety reasons when small kids use em! i guess this blog post is gonna be filled with lots and lots of photos this time round!! you know, just like every post of mine that is about modding nerf guns :) actually, i wanted to do a video instead but i cant remember why at the end i decided not to! anyway, this weekend was good in terms of sunshine man :P God is gooooooood. He gave me lotsa lotsa lotsa sunshine when i was spraying on the paint coats for the nerf gun! right after doing so, the sky became pretty gloomy and yeah drizzled! drizzling is already bad enough as the moisture content in the air is gonna shoot up and then the pain is gonna come out in a very different colour! usually the colour tone that you dont want.

this nerf gun is actually meant as a birthday present for an awesome friend, and i figured mixing manly and girly colours at the same time might be a pretty fun thing to do this time round! so as you scroll down the pictures later on, you can see the paint scheme! :) Also, because its a present and i hate delaying presents, praise the Lord for the really smooth path that He laid out for me, in terms of sourcing for the resources as well as for the paintjob! you know i do have a lot of resources at home, but not every spring or whatever stuff can be used in the same nerf gun, so.... my house is like NTUC fairprice as compared to Walmart, or something closer to home, Carrefour. Basically what my aim is, is to make this gun a whole lot easier to use...? other than the priming of the blaster which would require more strength and allow it to accept a variety of darts! just any dart would fit in and fly out of the barrel.


so... thats the insides of the nerf strongarm!! its a REALLY simple mechanism this time round as compared to the previous designs that had parts coming out of the gun as though someone spilled their intestines. actually its a complicated design that simplifies things -.- what in the world am i saying these days....


these are the barrel posts found from the back of the rotating barrel, i found them pretty useless and limiting in fact, so i removed em all!


useless locks, get rid of em!


THEN i came in with my favourite knife and trimmed down the sides of the barrel! :) its kinda troublesome having to do it six times, since its like a revolver, six barrels. lmao. a clip fed nerf blaster will just have ONE barrel -.- bottom photo is for comparison purpose, like before and after.



fast forward fast forward, it came to the moment of spray painting!! it was kinda annoying trying to squeeze everything onto this newspaper, as all the colours were really contrasting.
so what are the colours that i would be dealing with this time round? they are....
1. White (base coat)
2. Matte black
3. Fluorescent pink
4. Silver




PAINTING TUTORIAL 101: Always put a base coat of white to allow striking colours to stand out better against a really dark surface, or a different colour base because its bound to turn out really different! example: if i use pink on black, its still gonna turn out pretty blackish pink. BLEAH. and if its pink on blue surface, uhh....do the colour blending by yourself.

THEN i ended it off with a clear coat to give it the shiny shiny look! FYI it turns out as a pretty smooth surface. unlike a dull/matte coat.


but before painting the main shell, i had to cover up some parts that i didnt want to be painted! like the label on the gun, as well as the handle, so as to keep the feeling of it pretty close to original! nice, smoothed out :)


COAT 1,2,3,4,5 layers until its nice solid BLACK.


*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Halfway go wash car whilst letting the coats of paint to dry :P so i had to alternate quite a fair bit!



this time round, its time for the pink to get on! notice how its white and black now?


HEHE halfway thorough, the front tip was all nice and dry and coated! ^^ shiny fluorescent pink. now THATS boss. Orange tip to keep in legal :)

Hoooooo im almost done, almost done!! when i was just done, the sky became this gloomy! the searing sunshine was totally gone mannnnn D:



so back indoors i went to do the touch ups and peeling off of the masking tapes! :)





piece it all back together.....and voila~! Im DONEEEEEE!! oh one thing though, i just realised that the back holes of the barrel wasnt big enough for other darts to go through T.T so....i whipped out my trusty marking knife once more and did a tiny surgery!

this was really time consuming man -.- i had to make sure the darts could comfortably, just right fit into the barrels.

so this is the end product, its the same photo that was uploaded into instagram! on the left, is the one that have been modded and have been given away *Im gonna miss you blaster!!* it was really fun modding it :) and on the right, is the original strongarm, still a virgin.


so then now the cell group seems pretty interested in nerf, and frankly speaking, i find it real fun too! ^^ (like duh) what i find it particularly interesting is that its like playing first person shooter games, real life :) just that you dont have an insane amount of bullets like airsoft and you can also use your own kind of darts! and they are pretty accurate, as compared to the anyhow-flying paintballs. oh you spam in paintballs too anyway~ but hey in nerf, every dart counts man ;) cuz it takes a hella time to reload LMAO. so next week, we are gonna have a frisbee fellowship!! hmm it seems like a great time to start a nerf war first, see how it goes for a start! confirm i would be greatly lacking in ammo for everyone though :/ and the supply of blasters.... hmmm! i have this week to cook something up perhaps!

OH YES WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE WEEKDAYS? outfield. Mass raping session of NS men by commando mosquitoes. i tell ya we were bitten all over alright! our no.4 uniform was practically useless against the swarm when night fell. well.....so we turned to our gortex jackets for help! which did help! sorta... :D but our legs.... outfield this time round was pretty alright i guess! nothing much out of the blue, plus i cant/wont say much. but i must say, doing quiet time during outfield is really WONDERFUL. because of the scenery and the serenity :) super breathtaking and romantic sceneries if you catch the timing right :) too bad its all guys. okay  lotsa peace and quiet other than the radio occasionally buzzing off. Other than that...this week was pretty boring! oh yes, the five tonner broke down again -.- not the first time already man.... hmmmm depending on the situation in camp, i MIGHT cook up another blog post! by now you would have known me, that when i say MIGHT, its probably gonna be NEVER. Procrastination ftw!!


OH YES, City Harvest Church is now back home. YEAH BABY. BACK HOME. okay you know what? i think i really need to do another blog post man. lets see how it goes in camp. boomz.
